Days after wildfires destroyed thousands of structures in the Los Angeles area, several local and national organizations – including a Filipino-owned bakery – rallied support for those affected by the crisis.
Foodologie Baked Goods in Long Beach has launched a donation drive, bringing the community together to aid survivors of the LA wildfires.
Owner Maria Leyesa launched the initiative last week, turning the brick-and-mortar shop into a donation hub and rewarding donors with free treats.

In a social media post, Leyesa wrote, “Every donation delivery comes with a free mini cookie!”
Leyesa’s initiative was a sweet success, with many community members responding to the appeal for donations with deliveries of food, bottled water and other essential items for evacuees.

The raging LA fires, which erupted on Jan. 7, killed at least 27 people and destroyed more than 14,000 structures, forcing thousands to evacuate their homes.
As of Sunday, more than 8,300 firefighting personnel were engaged in the efforts to fight the blazes.
Evacuation orders were lifted for dozens of areas in both the Palisades and Eaton fires over the weekend, but some homes were still without electricity and gas service due to safety shutoffs.
